Discovering the cause of the adverse reactions to food is always time-consuming and complicated. We can help the affected patient with tests, but mostly we can direct the patient in self-observation thorough an in-depth conversation and help the patient determine the diet that will alleviate the symptoms.
In doing this, we are not taking shortcuts by utilizing non-recognized methods, such as the determination of IgG antibodies for food intolerance (e.g. Food Detective, Cytolisa), as we agree with the professional opinion of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the Section of Allergy and Immunology of the Slovenian Medical Association, who stress that the formation of the specific IgG antibodies is a normal immune response against food. These antibodies are found in all healthy people, and the test does not distinguish healthy individuals from patients with food intolerance.
Our aim is to utilize the findings to design a trial diet, and together with the patient determine which foods cause adverse reactions and then find safe, diverse and delicious replacements for those items.
