Mojca Velikonja, md.

Mojca Velikonja completed her specialization in pathology in 2016 and subsequently joined the Gynecology Clinic in Ljubljana, where she worked in the fields of gynecopathology, gastrointestinal pathology, and fetal and placental pathology. She later continued her career at the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana, where she passed the examination in cervical smear evaluation. She also participated in the national screening programs Svit and Zora, serving as a member of the histopathology working group within the Zora program.

She has been employed at the Diagnostični center Bled since 2025, focusing primarily on gastrointestinal pathology. She believes that high-quality diagnostics and treatment depend on close collaboration among all specialists involved in patient care, and she is committed to fostering open communication and interdisciplinary consultation.

Miha Vesel, md.

Miha Vesel completed his studies at the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana and, after finishing his internship and passing the professional medical exam, he spent three years specializing in general surgery. He then began a residency in radiology, which he successfully completed in 2021. In the same year, he also passed the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR) exam. Following the completion of his residency, he started working at the Oncology Institute in January 2022, where he joined the working group for mesenchymal tumors and the abdominal team. In addition to ultrasound, CT, and MRI diagnostics, he frequently performed ultrasound-guided biopsies of soft tissues and abdominal organs at the Oncology Institute.

He began working with the Diagnostični center Bled Group on a contractual basis in June 2022 and has been employed there full-time since November 2024. At the diagnostic center Diagnostični center Bled, he performs ultrasound examinations of abdominal organs, soft tissues of the neck, breasts, and carotid arteries.

Within the Diagnostični center Bled Group, he is also employed at MTC Fontana, where he primarily focuses on MRI diagnostics of the abdominal cavity (upper abdomen, liver, MRCP, pelvis, prostate). He is also involved in CT diagnostics of the chest and abdominal organs, as well as MRI diagnostics of the spine.

Andreja Pagon, md.

Andreja Pagon completed her specialization in dermatovenereology in 2022 and regularly continues her education in this field both in Slovenia and abroad. She is interested in the treatment of both acute and chronic skin diseases. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana.

Gašper Boltežar, md.

Gašper Boltežar graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana in 2012 and passed his specialist examination in gastroenterology with distinction in 2019. From 2013 to 2024, he worked at the Department of Gastroenterology of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, where he focused on the treatment of patients with gastrointestinal cancers, particularly cancers of the pancreas, bile ducts, and liver. In 2024, he was appointed Head of the Gastro-Oncology Outpatient Clinic. Since December 2024, he has been employed full-time at the Diagnostični center Bled, where he performs gastroscopies, colonoscopies and specialist gastroenterological consultations. Since 2019, he has also participated as a screening endoscopist in the national colorectal cancer screening program SVIT. He regularly continues his professional education in the fields of general gastroenterology and endoscopy, with the goal of further advancing his expertise in endoscopic procedures.

Kiril Stojanov, md.

He completed his specialization in internal medicine in 2018 at the University Medical Centre Ljubljana. During the final two years of his specialization, he focused on cardiology and began working in the field of cardiac diagnostics. In addition to performing cardiology consultations, he carries out echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, cardiac stress testing and analysis of 24-hour Holter ECG and blood pressure recordings. His main area of interest is the diagnosis and treatment of heart failure. He regularly continues his professional education through the European Society of Cardiology and plans to further specialize in the imaging diagnostics of cardiomyopathies. Kiril Stojanov collaborates with Diagnostični center Bled on cardiological examinations as part of preventive health evaluations.

Vesna Petrović, md.

Vesna Petrović has worked at the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled since 2022. She performs specialist examinations and endoscopic gastroscopy and colonoscopy examinations at the gastroenterology clinic of the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled.

Marjan Gorenc, md.

Marjan Gorenc works at the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled and performs endoscopic gastrointestinal examinations in the gastroenterology outpatient clinic.

Darko Ljubojević, md.

Darko Ljubojević finished his studies in medicine in Ljubljana in 2008, then he specialised in urology and passed a specialist exam in 2016. After that, he was employed in the urology department at Celje General Hospital. There, he also participated in the robot team of the urology department, performed diagnostic and operative procedures, including minimally invasive procedures; he was among the first to perform a fusion biopsy of the prostate in Slovenia. He regularly attends training as part of the European Association for Urology (EAU). He has worked at the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled since 2020. In the future, he wishes to undertake further education in the field of detection and treatment of prostate cancer, urinary stones and sexual medicine.

Marjan Kuzmanoski, md.

Marjan Kuzmanoski specialised in urology in 2004. He worked at the urology clinic at the Skopje Clinical Centre and at the Remedika and Filip Vtori private hospitals in Skopje. From 2016 to 2020, he worked as a urologist in the urology department at Slovenj Gradec General Hospital in Slovenia. He independently performs urological diagnostic procedures, ESWL, urodynamics and operational procedures, especially in the field of endourology. In Macedonia, he introduced microsurgery procedures in the treatment of male infertility, which is his particular interest.

Sebastian Stefanović, md.

Sebastian Stefanović has worked at the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled since 2021. He passed the specialist exam in the field of gastroenterology with honours on 29 October 2021. He passed the USMLE (The United States Medical Licensing Examination) and obtained the ECFMG certificate in August 2018. Under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Peter V. Draganov at the University of Florida in November 2019, he attended additional training in advanced endoscopic techniques. He performs specialist examinations and endoscopic gastroscopy and colonoscopy examinations at the gastroenterology clinic of the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled. He has also been the secretary of the Slovenian Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology since November 2021.

Assist. Davorin Dajčman, md.

Davorin Dajčman has been employed at the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled since January 2020, and he also works in two other companies, members of the Diagnostični center Bled Group, Gastromedica and MTC Fontana. In 1997, he took a specialist examination in internal medicine; he performed specialisation in Maribor, Ljubljana and Graz in Austria.

Between 2008 and 2016, he was the President of the Maribor Medical Association, and also the Vice-President of the Slovenian Medical Association (SZD) between 2014 and 2019. He was employed at the Maribor University Clinical Centre, where he was the deputy head of the department from 2011 and then the head of the Department of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy between 2016 and 2019.

He regularly attends training, shares his knowledge with others, and is also a lecturer at many graduate schools in the field of gastroenterology and gastrointestinal endoscopy. He is also the main mentor for specialisation in gastroenterology and internal medicine.

In the companies of the Diagnostični center Bled Group, he deals with the fields of gastroscopy and ultrasound of the abdominal organs and clinical work (diagnosis and treatment) at the gastroenterological clinic.

He takes advantage of his free time for cycling, travelling, listening to jazz music, and also reading professional literature.

Maja Denkovski, md.

After finishing her studies at the Medical Faculty in Ljubljana, she decided to specialise in internal medicine at Novo mesto General Hospital. Throughout her specialisation, she focused on gastroenterology and received more in-depth education in this field. In 2015, she passed the specialist exam with honours.

In 2018, she took over the management of the Department of Gastroenterology and became acting head of the Centre for Endoscopy of Novo mesto General Hospital.

She has worked at Diagnostični center Bled since 2020. She performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures (gastroscopy and colonoscopy). In the specialist clinic, she mostly deals with patients with chronic inflammatory bowel disease and coeliac disease. She is aware that the patient must be well educated about his/her disease, so she likes to collaborate with various patient associations (Society of patients with coeliac disease, Society for Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Disease). She also participates as an endoscopist in the SVIT prevention programme intended for the prevention and early detection of precancerous changes and cancer of the colon and rectum.

Irena Žnideršič, md.

Irena Žnideršič, who boasts many years of experience in hospital diagnostics and emergency radiological diagnostics (CT, X-ray, ultrasound), has worked at the Diagnostični center Bled since 2016. She performs abdominal, breast, testicle, neck soft tissue and prostate examinations using state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment.

She has attended a number of professional training courses abroad to perfect her knowledge of muscle and joint ultrasound diagnostics and gained extensive experience during her many years of working in the field. Dr Žnideršič is also highly experienced in performing ultrasound-guided procedures such as prostate biopsies and shoulder calcium deposit removals.

In the future, she aims to expand her knowledge and gain experience in other forms of diagnostics, especially MRI diagnostics.

Jasna Volfand, md.

She has been employed in Diagnostični center Bled, engaged in gastroenterology with endoscopic (gastroscopy) and ultrasound diagnostics, since 1993. She is specifically focused on the allergology with immunology and nutrition, and is therefore working in the allergy clinic, dealing with allergic diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, celiac disease, and other forms of adverse reactions to food.

Dejan Urlep, MSc., md.

Employed at Diagnostični center Bled since 2009, he operates in gastroenterology. He performs gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ultrasound examination of the abdomen and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). As a diagnostic tool, he most enjoys to perform ERCP, and sees the greatest chance of professional growth in endoscopic ultrasound. In addition to the hitherto in-depth study of medicine, his wishes for the future are to expand his view of the world by experiencing interesting leisure activities.

Samo Starman, md.

After graduation and specialization at the Faculty of Medicine in Ljubljana, he worked at the Institute of Oncology in the field of tumor pathology, mostly of soft tissues, thyroid glands, breasts and digestive tract. Then he was employed in the Izola GH, where he worked in the fields of general pathology and cytology.

In 2018, he started working in the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled, where he has been deeply engaged mainly in gastrointestinal and urological pathology and pathology of dermatologic conditions. In the future, he wishes to further educate in these areas.

Zoran Stanišić, MSc., md.

Zoran Stanišić brings a wealth of experience in gastroenterology to the Diagnostični center Bled from the Novi Sad University Medical Centre and the Rogaška Medical Centre, where he served as the Medical Director between 2004 and 2015. After graduating, he completed postgraduate studies in internal medicine and a subspecialization in gastroenterology.

Seeking to expand his knowledge even further, he went on to complete postgraduate studies at the Centre for Multidisciplinary Studies of the University of Belgrade and a master’s degree in pancreatology and computer science. He also worked as an assistant, transferring his knowledge and experience in internal medicine to younger generations.

Dr Stanišić’s work in gastroenterology is focused on diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy – upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy) and endoscopic ultrasound of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, and proctology.

Boris Palek, md.

Boris Palek completed his medical specialisation in 1998. He has been employed at the Diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled since April 2019, but already worked at the centre between 1998 and 2005. He works at the Diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled as a ward doctor and as a doctor at the osteoporosis clinic. In 2003, he gained an international certificate in clinical densitometry (DXA) for the field of osteoporosis in Los Angeles.

Ljiljana Ljepović, md.

She is the chief specialist of the preventive health evaluations in the Diagnostični center Bled, engaged in gastroenterology with endoscopic (gastroscopy and colonoscopy) diagnostics and medical treatment since 2000. She pays particular attention to hepatology (liver disease). In addition to gastroenterology, she extremely professionally runs preventive health evaluations. She published a large number of scientific articles on the importance of preventive examinations. She also held expert lectures about the growing problem of burnout syndrome of managers.

Rajko Knežević, md.

He has been working in the field of gastroenterology since 2003. At the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled, he performs diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic and ultrasound examinations of the digestive tract. He is the head of the internal medicine–surgical–oncology board at the Diagnostični center Bled. As a consulting colonoscopist, he performs more complex procedures within the national colorectal cancer screening program Svit. He also participates as a mentor at endoscopy workshops for younger colleagues. Since 2021, he has been a member of the extended executive board of the Slovenian Association for Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Lidija Kaučevič Pohar, md.

She has been employed in Diagnostični center Bled since 2006. She has focused her attention on diseases of modern times, such as arterial hypertension, obesity, diabetes, and blood lipid disorders, which lead to premature failure of the cardiovascular system. She deals with non–invasive cardiovascular diagnostics, prevention and medical treatment of cardiovascular diseases; she performs stress testing and ultrasound examination of carotid arteries. She also works in the osteoporosis clinic.

Nataša Brglez Jurečič, md.

She completed her specialization in internal medicine in 2005, and she has been engaged in gastroenterology since 2006. She joined the team at the diagnostic centre Diagnostični center Bled in June 2018. She has more than a decade of experience in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy diagnostics and therapy, and she regularly attends trainings in Slovenia and abroad. Since 2010, she has cooperated in the SVIT preventive programme as a screening endoscopist. She has been engaged in the issues of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in a specialist clinic, and she also completed an additional training in the field of patient management undergoing biological therapy of IBD. In the future, she wishes to further deepen her knowledge in the field of therapeutic procedures in gastrointestinal endoscopy as well as to expand her knowledge and gain experience in other forms of endoscopic diagnostics; she is especially interested in endoscopic ultrasound.

prim. Milan Stefanovič, md

He has been employed at Diagnostični center Bled since 1993 and has worked as the head of gastroenterological affairs as well as the medical director of the Centre. He is devoted to his profession, and in DC Bled he promotes the great tradition of gastrointestinal endoscopy. As an outstanding professional and excellent therapist he tackles even the most difficult endoscopic interventions and also successfully resolves them, always considering the patient’s safety and benefits. His contribution to the improved quality of endoscopy on the Slovenian ground is significant. His main activity, in addition to endoscopic diagnostics and treatment, is also prevention and early detection of the colorectal cancer and treatment of pancreatic diseases.
