Gastroenterological specialist examination

The examination at the Gastroenterological clinic is performed by a specialist doctor, expert in gastroenterology.

After a detailed discussion of previous illnesses and existing problems, the gastroenterologist performs a clinical examination and, if necessary, orders a basic blood test.

If (s)he can determine the cause of patient’s problems based on the conversation alone, (s)he can advise the appropriate hygienic-dietetic measures to be taken and a suitable treatment.

If the cause of the patient’s problems is not clear, the specialist agrees with the patient on the appropriate testing, for example endoscopic examination of the upper and lower digestive system, small intestine, biliary ducts, or ultrasound and X-ray examinations.

The doctor often discovers that abdominal pain and similar problems do not stem from the gastrointestinal tract, and thus advises an examination by another specialist (urologist, gynaecologist, orthopaedist, etc.).

It is desirable that the patients bring their old medical records and test results, especially, if the problems have persisted for a long time, and certain examinations have been already performed or medications taken.

If the specialist gastroenterologist determines that the required tests can be performed at our Centre, the patient is assigned a suitable date for examination.
