Treatment of vaginal dryness
A dry vagina causes many problems for women. Get treatment and live a happier life.
VAGINAL DRYNESS AND PAIN DURING SEXUAL INTERCOURSE
Most often, the vagina becomes dry due to a deficiency of the female sex hormone, i.e. oestrogen, which is also responsible for the proper vaginal moisture and elasticity. When there is a deficiency, the vaginal mucosa thins and becomes less moist.
A dry vagina can be caused by menopause, cancer treatment, systemic diseases (Sjögren’s syndrome, systemic sclerosis, etc.) or as a side effect of certain medications. It can also affect women after childbirth and while breastfeeding.
Women with a dry vagina experience a burning sensation in their vagina, itching, painful intercourse and, as a result, reduced interest in sex. There can be pain during and after intercourse and, if the problem is not resolved over time, vaginal inflammation, tiny tears and subsequent vaginal bleeding or discharge during or after intercourse.
TREATMENT OF VAGINAL DRYNESS WITH PRP
PRP treatment was first introduced in 1970. Today, it is widely used in orthopaedics for healing wounds after a surgical procedure or trauma, for inflammation of tendons in joints, for arthritis, and in dermatology for treating or preventing hair loss. And of course, PRP has its place in gynaecology.
PRP in gynaecology is the most natural, safe, and effective method for improving the structure and restoring, growing and rejuvenating vaginal tissue.
HOW IS PRP TREATMENT PERFORMED?
Before the procedure itself, you will discuss with your gynaecologist the suitability and appropriateness of the treatment for you and the treatment itself. First, a local anaesthetic is used to numb the external genital area and the clitoris. We take 10–15ml of blood from your arm. The processed own blood is prepared by special centrifugation and precisely injected with an extremely fine needle into various sites in the external genital area, vagina and/or clitoris. This method stimulates the formation of new, healthy, and functional tissue at the PRP injection site.
The procedure is painless due to the local anaesthetic and takes about 20 minutes. No rest is needed after the procedure, but we advise against physical activity on the day of the procedure.
THE BENEFITS OF TREATMENT:
- Reduction of burning, painful and uncomfortable sensations due to vaginal dryness.
- Increased vaginal elasticity, moisture and sensitivity, leading to greater pleasure and reduced pain during intercourse.
- Increased tissue firmness, which has a positive impact on sexual experiences (non-surgical vaginal rejuvenation).
- Healing harnesses the body’s natural healing abilities.
- There are no adverse allergic reactions, as the product is made from the patient’s own blood.
WHEN ARE THE RESULTS OF TREATMENT VISIBLE?
The results of the treatment will be visible within three time periods:
- During the first 3 to 7 days, you will notice increased sensitivity or stronger sensation in the area of the PRP injection.
- After about 3 weeks, new, healthy, functional tissue will start to form, reaching its peak after 3 months.
- The effects are present for up to a year.
Unfortunately, the natural ageing process cannot be stopped, so we advise you to consult your gynaecologist about repeating or renewing treatment after this period.
Before visiting the clinic, think about any issues you may have to discuss with the gynaecologist, who will also give you more detailed information about the treatment itself. Each procedure is tailored to the individual needs of the patient, as the dose and the exact injection location are adjusted according to the diagnosis and the desired result.
WHEN CAN WE NOT PERFORM THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT?
The treatment cannot be performed in cases of blood clotting disorders, chronic liver disease, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, during active herpes virus infection, in oncology patients.
